On this occasion, I once again gave vent to my lifelong passion: the cathode ray tube.
With a few small screens and a generator, we shot around Rome during - I believe - the hottest night of the year. It was 31 July, and Grace in Town was wearing a man’s jacket and a woman’s fur coat.
The shoot ended at 5.30am, when the dawn light no longer allowed us to shoot. By then, we were exhausted, and we had each produced litres of sweat.
I really love the sometimes ghostly, frequently unseen Rome that we captured here. It supports the sense of strangeness that the piece itself seeks to portray. The fact that this was the middle of summer was the key to finding this other dimension, that breathes throughout the video.
