This work is my idea of a showreel, i.e., an original work with its own specific meaning, rather than an edit of works.
I liked to think of a protagonist whose life is intertwined by media and content that, bit by bit, stay with her in a sort of vision/dream/loop.
When I saw Chabeli Sastre Gonzalez on Baby (Netflix), I thought she was the perfect choice to flesh out this figure.
At this point, with the script I had drafted, there was material for a sort of experimental short, that would perhaps seduce me even more in the form of a music video. For the music, I immediately asked Lorenzo (Ceccotti - aka LRNZ, aka Büromaschinen), and when he played “Clockwork” to me, I said “This is the track.”
Basically, it was a slightly inverted process compared to a traditional music video, although the moment I put the music together with the images, I realised that the “mechanism” worked.
