Storie di Un'Altra Estate originated in the immediate post-lockdown period, following COVID. Alongside Diodato (winner of the 2020 Sanremo festival), not only did I have the opportunity to tour Italy during the stages that witnessed his human and professional evolution, but, above all, I was able to return to hear live music at a time when concerts were as rare as water in the desert.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the series is that there is no conventional, linear development. Rather, we have created thematic fields in which the artist manages to connect the individual self with the zeitgeist of the moment.
Particular favourites of mine are the unplugged pieces with which I chose to close the episodes. The most beautiful is definitely the one with Diodato playing in the "Sound Box" in Taranto.
This was a small venue, resembling a gazebo, in which the artist had dreamed of playing since childhood.
That moment was entirely improvised and recorded as a long take.
